It Stops With Us

Intersectionality is everything...

Our Country Representatives program gives one ambassador from each country – and every U.S. state – the chance to represent their community within the wider HASSL network. Their role is to ensure our initiatives reflect diverse perspectives and adapt across cultural contexts. Intersectional feminism is at the heart of everything we do.

Why?

HASSL was always built to be global – such a universal problem requires a worldwide interconnected solution. Our Country Reps help us make HASSL as inclusive, representative and effective as possible for people all over the world. No woman is safe until all women are safe; and this is a step towards that.

Country Reps Lead

Meet Eyla – PRO ambassador and lead of the Country Reps group. She’s a huge asset to HASSL, volunteering her time to manage applications, onboard new reps, and support them in their roles.

Hey, I’m Eyla! I’m part Norwegian, part Kurdish, and a student living in Norway. With family spread across the world, I grew up immersed in languages and cultural stories that taught me how vital it is to keep voices uncensored and accessible. I studied Comparative Literature, and I want to use my privilege to amplify women’s voices that are too often overlooked. That’s why HASSL matters to me - it connects me with women worldwide and lets me hear their real, unfiltered stories.

You must be an ambassador before you can apply. If you don't see your country/state represented, you can apply below via the application form.

Your questions, answered

What is a Country/State Rep?

A Country or State Rep is the go-to ambassador for their region. They help grow the movement locally; share insights about cultural or legal differences; make sure their country is represented in HASSL content; and help connect ambassadors to each other.

Do I need special skills or experience to be a Rep?

No. You don’t need to be an expert - just passionate about HASSL’s mission and willing to help us keep your country represented. We’ll give you guidance and support along the way.

Is this a big time commitment?

Not at all! The role is flexible. Some weeks you might add an event or share a local news story; other weeks you might not do anything. There’s no set hours – it’s about consistency over time.

Can there be more than one Rep per country/state?

No - to keep things clear, there’s one lead rep per country or state (for the USA). This ensures there’s a dedicated person who ambassadors can look to for updates and connection. If your country already has a Rep, you can still contribute by supporting them and being active in your country’s space. If your country doesn’t yet have a Rep, you can apply to take the lead.

Do I have to speak the native language?

It’s not essential, but it really helps. Being able to communicate in the main language of your country makes it easier to connect with more ambassadors and share HASSL’s message widely.

What kind of things would I actually do?

  • Share local events, protests, or awareness days on the calendar
  • Flag local news or cultural issues that HASSL should highlight
  • Help ambassadors in your country connect with each other
  • Share or adapt resources so they’re relevant in your context
  • Encourage people locally to join as ambassadors
  • Represent your country in global campaigns and videos

What support will I get?

You’ll join a team of global reps, with two monthly check-in calls, resources to guide you, and direct support from the HASSL team. You’ll also have your role displayed on the platform so people know you’re the rep.

What if I can’t commit long-term?

That’s okay! If you ever need to step down, just let us know - the role can be passed on to another ambassador in your country.
