HASSL Interviewed by Number Nine Events

Today, we’re excited to be featured in an in-depth interview with Number Nine Events, where our founder Amy Watson shares the story behind HASSL - how it began, the challenges along the way, and the vision driving us forward. Read here!
Amy opens up about how personal experiences of harassment in London and stories from others became the spark for HASSL, and why she chose to build tech, training, and community work rather than more “safety tips.” She explains that she deliberately avoided early external investors to maintain mission control and integrity, recognising how often women face barriers in traditional funding.
One thing about HASSL she shares that you may not know: the Ambassador Program was originally scheduled for a later stage, but so many people asked to get involved that she launched it early. Within a few months, it grew quickly - something she sees as evidence of real hunger in the community.
This interview matters because it gives people a behind-the-scenes look at how HASSL is built - the risks, the strategy, the decisions made with values in mind. It helps build trust, deepen connection, and show that this movement is rooted in lived experience and deliberate design.
In terms of the five-stage plan, this moment aligns with Stage 2: strengthening our narrative, brand presence, and foundational partnerships that will allow us to scale. It positions HASSL as more than an idea - as a growing global enterprise with vision, strategy, and impact.
